The article below summarizes the key things to take point of when choosing a leash for your dog. Dogs are our best friend and support us in time of need. Similarly we should ensure we chose the best we can. So making sure we get a leash that makes them feel comfortable, keeps them safe and comes at a cost you can afford is important. We hope this article will make your choice simpler.

1. First and foremost before choosing a dog leash weight your dog. Dogs vary in size and having the weight beforehand will determine how strong of a leash you will need.

2. Get a measure tape and measure your dog’s neck size. Each Dog Leash comes in different sizes from extra small for the Chihuahuas to the extra-large for the Siberian huskies.

3. Once you have the weight of your dog and the neck size the remaining factors really depend on your choice, style you may be interested. This in most cases in limited by the budget you have set aside for the dog leash. So make sure you have a budget put aside of how much you want to spend on a dog leash. But do remember, the more you spend now on quality, the less frequently you will need to replace the leash.

4. The material a dog leash is made out of is very important. Genuine leather is highly recommended for large heavy dogs as leather is very strong and less likely to break or tear like nylon and artificial PVC leather. We are not saying that PVC Leather is bad, its just more suitable for small to medium sized dogs and comes at a cheaper price. If you have a budget constraint than do consider other options.

5. We all as human beings like to look good and be fashionable. Similarly this trend has carried and move to our beautiful dogs. A dog leash can be as plain as black, blue, white or brown and the extreme of having the coloured, studded, embroidered or with beads. This is depends on your choice. The only piece of I can share is match the colour and style of leash with the type of the dog you have. I am sure that’s not too hard to do.

In summary, choosing a dog leash is not difficult but make sure you chose the right one is important. Not every dog leash is suitable for every dog. So make sure you get your dogs weight, neck size, fix a budget you can afford and than accordingly chose the quality and style of dog leash that will keep your dog happy and safe. I hope this article benefited you.

Why Does My Dog Do The Things He Does?
Dogs have a language all of their own and it has been passed down from generation to generation, much like we humans pass down our behavior to our children and their children and so on.
Dogs use body movement, facial expressions, and vocalization to communicate with us and their environment. Dogs speak to us plainly and clearly in their language, with a little effort you can learn how to speak your dog’s language.
Interpreting the movement of your dog’s tail, ears, and body can often provide surprisingly quick insight into your dog’s actions and behavior.
Let’s take a look at eight interesting behaviors dogs display. It’s hard to believe that modern day dogs descended from the wild Grey Wolf yet this heritage is responsible for most of our dog’s behavior.
Our wonderful domesticated dogs have natural instincts forged over several thousand years of living as pack animals.
LEADER OF THE PACK
Dogs have a pack mentality derived from their ancestors. The success of the wolf pack depends on one thing, a strong ALPHA leader. Wolves hunted, sleep, ate, and traveled together; a wolf pack is a highly functional family. That explains why dogs fit so fine into a family setting.
In every pack a social hierarchy would form with the strong leader at the top and the most submissive wolves at the bottom. For the domesticated dog, his family is his pack. Even if you live alone with your dog, you are still a pack of two.
It’s important for the socialization of your dog that you take the role of the leader in this relationship. Be the ALPHA, your dog needs the security the relationship brings and the dogs overall all behavior will be appropriate.
Dogs need reassurance that the leader accepts their behavior, by giving your dog positive feedback to reward good behavior; you will be eliminating the bad.
AGGRESSION FOR SURVIVAL
As you can imagine living in a pack of wolfs aggression would be necessary for survival. It is a deeply ingrained instinct within our domesticated dogs today. The wolf’s aggression helped establish their territory, maintain their rank in the pack, protect their food supply and drive away would be thieves.
Today, by giving our domesticated dog security and proper socialization will allow no room for aggressive behavior to begin.

NO TRESPRASSING
Territorial urinating or growling behavior is used to mark their turf, literately. I have watched my male dog have nothing left to give and still hike his leg to every brush in yard.
This same territorial behavior is exhibited each time the dog barks when a stranger or another dog approaches his land. Simple put our dogs are much like their families going around marking trees with NO TRESPRASSING signs.
LET GO OF MY EGO
Within a pack if you don’t protect your food you don’t eat. Easy to understand why dogs guard their food, this is a deeply ingrained instinct within your dog’s genetic makeup.
When there is more than one dog in the family it is natural and acceptable for a dog to protect his dog food, but aggressive food guarding toward the ALPHA or any other family member is not OK.
Correct with kindness and respect for better results.
FLIGHT OR FIGHT
Wolves and dogs alike have extraordinarily keen eyesight, with highly developed peripheral vision, which allows them to perceive the slightest movement. At the first sign of danger they instinctively flee. Flight is sensible for the dog.
This same behavior can sever to protect our dogs or have opposite effect when not entirely under our control. A sudden loud noise or a excited crowd and our dog is off like a shot, possibly rushing into a oncoming car.
This instinct reinforces how important a good leash is for your dog. Trust me your dog needs to know that you are in charge and that he can relax in your sensible hands, providing him with safety and confidence.
YOU RUN I CHASE
I can tell you why your dog started chasing cars. Wolves automatically pursue anything that runs from them; leaving no chase that dinner will get away.
Although our dogs have their meals served up on silver plates and beautiful dog bowls it is still their nature to chase down anything that runs. If your dog decides to chase joggers, bicycles, and running children you could have a serious problem especially if your dog is large and powerful.
This is when having a good fence protects you the dog owner and the neighborhood children, just good sensible dog ownership.
DOG JUST WANT TO HAVE FUN
Dogs were meant for interaction with one another and with families. Have you noticed the extraordinary sense of fun and play that is integral part of their social behavior?
The family is outside playing together and your dog runs over and assumes the play bow. Dogs front shoulders drop quickly to the ground, leaving his rump up in the air with his tailing wagging and his tongue out, ready for PLAY!
Our dogs shower us with affection each greeting and other dogs with licks and kisses, usually around the face and the muzzle, each and every time they meet.
Dogs that live together create a astonishing bond of love and respect. Our dogs take time every day to play every day social interaction is as important to our dogs as it is for our well being. An isolated dog or person that doesn’t share life with those around them is an unhappy fellow.
This is an important trait in our dogs because if not happy then our dogs become destructive, could create excessive barking, and worse aggression. So please the next time your dog licks you to death or brings his favorite ball to play, stop and have some fun with your sensible dog.
BORN TO BARK
Just like we sensible people our dogs love to chat. People shout, scream, yell, and whisper to communicate. Our dogs whine, yip, bark, growl and howling to communicate with one another and their families. Good communication was supportive of wolf pack survival.
Our dogs are expressing their emotions; happiness, loneliness, concern, fear, and warnings. Our little inside dog Pocahontas sings a woooof, wooof woof, to greet us each time we come home, it is precious.
Dogs communicating verbally is quite natural but nobody loves a constantly barking dog. With love you can teach your dog acceptable limits, it is up to you as the leader of the pack.
SO THAT’S WHY DOGS DO THE THINGS THEY DO
Understanding your dog’s habits and behavior means a more sensible relationship for both you and your dog.Knowing your dog is the first step toward creating a strong friendship.
It should now be easy to be more tolerant of behaviors that dogs really were born to exhibit. Use your new knowledge to create a happy, healthy, and well behaved dog.

We all love our pets and want them to stay healthy with giving them healthy food and treats. Just like we feed ourselves with good and healthy food then why not give your pet dog healthy treats as well. Dogs are loving animals and they are the friendliest towards humans. When you feed you dog make sure that the food is healthy and is not harmful to them in any way.

There are many things that you should know when you are feeding your dog, even if you are a new dog owner or already have dogs before as well. For new owners it is necessary to know many details because as time passes you will tend to learn more and new stuff about proper care of your dog.

There are many things that your dog can be sensitive too and can cause then harm. You should know that there are few food items that your dog should not be given. Food that we like to eat and enjoy such as chocolates, nuts, grapes and raisins, dairy products, artificial sweetener and sugar and too much salt can be harmful and poisonous and can cause various health complications.

You can find good and healthy gourmet dog treats in the market easily that are delicious and the ingredients are not harmful. These healthy treats are more expensive than the ones which are not healthy and are cheap. Such healthy food can be cost saving for you because giving your dog healthy food the tendency for him to get sick or ill gets lower and this alternatively will save you on their vet medical bills.

There are some factors and things to remember when you shop for dog treats. Go through the ingredients and check that the entire ingredients are natural and organic. Buy the ones which are made of grains and oats or brown rice and even you can buy the single protein ones such as chicken or beef. Make sure that there is no source of sugar or fat in the treats which are not good for the health of your dog.

Make sure to check the word by-product on the box, if the ingredients contain by-product of chicken or beef then don’t buy them because by-products are not good for humans and so they will not be healthy for dogs too. Look for dog treats which have oxidant rich vegetables such as spinach. Vegetables are a good source of food for dogs and vegetable ingredient product are not harmful to dogs, in addition you can also look for Omega 3 on the box, and this ingredient is good for healthy skin and coat.

Make sure to check the calorie count of the treats, the calorie count should be less because this keeps your dog healthy and will not over weight your dog.

These are some factors that you should keep in mind when you are out shopping for treats.

Dog health is vital to keep your dog active but it is a big issue for dog lovers. Life is short, we all know that well and a dog’s life is incidentally even more so. And you have very much to do whether it will be longer or shorter. Dog makes our lives pleasant, so we can’t ignore their proper health care. For dog’s good health, you must feed your dog healthy food at the right time and also save them from dreadful weather affects. If you have a dog at your home, he will be living with you as your family member so you should be affectionate with him. To ensure your dog health, you must not provide him tick and flea medications while he is suffering from any kind of microbial infections. For the prevention of any microbial infections, you must contact the veterinary doctor or train yourself by the articles and news relevant to your dog’s health. An additional step to keep your dog healthy is that you closely observe teeth of your dog and keep them clean. Cleanness of the teeth saves your pet from several diseases. You must take care when you choose your dog’s food. Don’t ever compromise on the quality of your dog’s food.

Due to the elevated cost of pet’s health insurance, pet health has become most important topic now a day. Therefore, you must be very careful in choosing the dog’s insurance company and make sure that the selected insurance company is recognized by a veterinary doctor. Cost of the pet insurance is based on pet’s age, type of pet and pet’s health. Pet’s health insurance is very safe and smart way to take care of your pet nicely. It is very essential for you to keep policies of the insurance companies in your mind. Because many insurance companies do not pay the fees of regular check up of your pet dog and do not even pay special check up on the sudden attack of the microbial infections like worming, flea control etc. Many companies start to insure the pet dog from the age of 6-9 weeks and the limit of his/her age is eight years. Mostly, insurance companies refuse to insure the pet dog of eight years or more than eight years. Many insurance companies have no age limit and also provide you the discount insurance. You can find many insurance companies around you and even on the internet where they provide you the online facility of the dog health insurance.

Puppies are terrific pets to have close to. Some occasions we need to use an anti bark shock collar on them but in most circumstances, they are energetic, playful and maintain you on your toes. They make fantastic companions for the two youngsters as properly as adults. But proudly owning or finding pet dog comes with a lot or duty. Most persons especially animal lovers know this, but most of us comprehend this immediately after we’ve received the canine and tire of the novelty. Pets, by way of domestication have acquired some of man’s social requires like love and awareness. Socially a doggy is caught somewhere involving an individual and a wolf. This implies that in order to communicate with a dog you require to talk to it in its language.

What? Canines have their own personal vocabulary? Without a doubt, they do. Have you ever noticed canine greeting each and every other in a park or on the sidewalk? The initially problem they do sniff what seems to be their rear ends. Disgusting suitable? To a human certainly, but to a puppy that tells them a lot of things. It’s their form of a handshake, greeting and a sit down. The smelling process tells them the sex, rank, mood and many other items. They don’t in fact odor every other’s butts. It’s a distinct thing altogether termed the ‘Anal Sac’. The Anal Sac excretes a liquid, and this is the liquid that dogs smell. This scent is frequently most apparent when a canine friend is scared.

Anyhow back to knowledge dogs. If you want to realize dogs but don’t know how, then the best way is to observe their habits and listen to the sounds they make. Dogs can listen to in a much greater vary as compared to human beings. This suggests that we don’t hear half the details they do. But a puppy has a specified bark for each and every circumstance. For instance, you will come to notice the meal time or hunger bark, the bark to get out of the residence, and many others. There will an motion to accompany the sound as nicely. Like when its hungry it will go to the spot it gets its meals from or the cabinet the food’s stored in. but if you are acquiring difficulty knowledge your dog or would like to know extra about it then you can study up on printed information. Where by do you get this information? Effectively that’s the quick portion and there are loads of possibilities. You can obtain or borrow books, verify posts like this one particular on the net, check coaching movies, and many others.

Once you get to know the vocabulary and habits of your dog it will get considerably easier to deal with them. You also will need to continue to keep in thoughts that like humans, canine too have personalities of their unique. Just about every pet dog is distinctive. So evaluating canines is not honest. That’s like comparing two females of all-natural elegance. Every individual will decide on in accordance to their tastes. The same goes with canines. Go through up and study as much as you can about your dog (in particular about its breed) and take care of it.

Generally speaking we are assured our dog is feeling good every time they gobble down their food, nevertheless you can certainly be certain that something isn’t proper when the dog won’t eat. It is an weird thing for a dog to forget about a meal and this is a telling indication that you have a lethargic dog on your hands. If you uncover your dog hasn’t eaten in twenty four hours it is time for a veterinarian visit. On the flip side if you have spotted your dogs eating behavior have gone the other way, for instance all of a sudden the dog has turned into a food thief and is raiding the rubbish this signifies that something has altered within the dog, this behaviour will clearly be outlined as one of the dog sickness symptoms, and it will need to be checked out by a vet
The dog is peeing a lot
If you discover your dog drinking water a lot more routinely than usual or peeing far more or you find the dog drooling this could be a cause of diabetes or even kidney disease. It can be challenging to suspect if your dog is drinking extra water unfortunately you will take note of her immediate need to go out in the open and you may perhaps furthermore see more mishaps indoors in terms of urinating.

Do you have a lethargic dog?
If you do come across this then a journey to the vet is a good idea.
Vomiting
An unsubtle signal is vomiting which could perhaps be followed by excessive drooling in dogs and pretty unquestionably dehydration in dogs. The act of vomiting is as traumatic in the doggy world as it is for us, and just like us they will certainly be vomiting to get ride of some thing distressing they might possibly have eaten. If this is the situation then it isn’t something to feel concerned about, nevertheless , if the queasiness goes on then sure enough jump in the car and head to the vets as these are dog sickness symptoms that really should not be over looked.
Poo
As a final notice, poo. Yes you will need to examine your dogs poo every now and again, you don’t need to poke and push at it however solely make certain everything is natural, is it a familiar color and size. If you detect it is gooey or miscoloured such as yellow this is a sign of poor nutrition or he has ingested something peculiar at one point. The solution is the same as with people, simply feed them bland food until such time as their stomach can settle, so straightforward rice is vital. If you are endlessly distressed or there is blood in the stool then to the vets it is. In addition please note that dogs have a tendancy chiefly when young to eat their own poop, so if you begin observing there is a unusual decrease in the amount he delivers this could quite possibly be the explanation why the dog won’t eat, this may possibly also be the reason you have a lethargic dog in the first place.

It is sometimes mistaken for a Siberian Husky, but in fact is quite different in many ways. Description Appearance The American Kennel Club (AKC) breed standard calls for a natural range of size, with a desired freighting weight of 75 to 85 pounds (34 to 39 kg) and a height of 23 to 26 inches (58 to 66 cm). Some Malamutes have been known to reach 32 inches (810 mm), and to weigh more than 130 lb (59 kg). Heavier individuals (90lbs) and dogs smaller than 75 pounds are common. There is often a marked size difference between males and females. Weights upwards of 95 pounds are occasionally seen, but this is uncommon and such dogs are produced primarily by breeders who market a ‘large Malamute.’ These large sizes are not in accordance with the breed’s history or show standards.

The coat is a dense double northern dog coat, somewhat “harsher” (in a certain sense) than that of the Siberian Husky. The usual colors are various shades of gray and white, sable and white, black and white, red and white, or pure white. Eyes are almond-shaped and are always various shades of brown (from dark to light, honey or hazel brown); blue eyes will disqualify the dog in shows. The physical build of the Malamute is compact with heavy bone, in most (but not all) cases.. In this context ‘compact’ means that their height to length ratio is slightly longer than tall, unlike dogs like Great Danes which are longer and lankier in their ratios. The primary criterion for judging the Malamute in a show is its function to pull heavy freight as a sled dog; everything else is secondary. As many an owner has found out, the pulling power of a Malamute is tremendous. The Malamute’s tail is well furred and hangs just over the back like a “plume”. This is the standard written in the breed book. Corkscrew tails can now be seen but is not the breed description (a corkscrew tail is commonly seen in the Akita). The Malamutes’ well-furred tails aid in keeping them warm when they curl up in the snow. They wrap the tail around their nose and face which helps protect them against harsh weather such as blowing snow. Ears are generally upright. Your dog’s world is one of smells and action. They do not understand language like we do. So when you start training your puppy or dog, he may not respond to your command or praise. If this is the case, then you need to start using physical praise along with verbal praise for a few months.

The cheapest way of course, is to do the training yourself. You just need to devote some of your time, quite a lot of effort and patience. Training the pet personally can also improve dog-owner relationship. It allows one to bond with his dog, teach him the commands he want, and be able to commend the pet for his obedience. Dog house training is the simplest way of training and this can be done in several ways Kinds of Dog Training Methods

The world of dog training can be diverse plus complex and a lot of diverse teaching approaches exist. No type of method of dog training is actually appropriate for every dog. It’s finest for first time dog owners to have the exact help of your qualified dog trainers. Dog Training Methods and Tips

Dogs are carefree animals. They do whatever they like such as peeing, pooping, licking, barking, chewing, whining, scratching, jumping, sniffing and running around like there’s no tomorrow. As they are unable to figure out how to act on their own, they do what comes naturally to them. So, they must be trained to instill good behaviors in them. The physical praise can be in the form of a treat or petting. When your dog starts associating sounds like “Good Girl” or “Good Dog” with the treat, he will learn to recognize it later. After a while, you will notice that he responds to your voice.

Dog Training Using Praise

Your dog loves Praise and Attention. As odd as it may sound, dogs will do anything to get their master’s love and attention. Let me give you an example. A friend once came to me complaining about his mischievous dog. His dog would grab things like shoes and hats then run away with them. He would chew up slippers and shoes even though my friend bought him a variety of toys and treats.
His dog would still be a nuisance.

What my friend did not realized is that the dog was trying to get his attention. He never praised his dog when he was doing the things he wanted him to do, such as playing with his toys. Therefore, the dog did things that caused my friend to yell and shout. Always remember to praise your dog for things that you want him to do and ignore him when he does the opposite.

Dog Training Using Toys

You don’t need to spend a small fortune buying toys for your dog. You can practically use anything as a toy. For example, you could use a small plastic bottle, an empty baby powder box, or a cardboard roll from toilet paper. Then categorize the toys into groups.

Category one toys are the ones he likes. Category two toys are the ones he loses interest in quickly. Category one toys are to be used in your dog training methods. Note: Interactive toys are the ones that require you to play with your dog. However, the isolation ones are those that he plays with by himself.

The toys should be put away after play is over and not left lying around. The toys lose their value if they are left lying around. Remember: Never pull a toy from your dog’s mouth. Let him take his time, chew it, and leave it.

Dog Training In Public Places

During your dog training sessions, your dog9 may exhibit fear or aggression when meeting strangers. You should discourage such behavior. Stop him by saying a firm “No” and pat or praise him when he stops. If your dog displays fear, be a little gentler with the “No,” but be firm. With a growling dog, be much more emphatic and stern with your “No!” However, always show love and affection when dog training.

Since dogs are active animals, they could sustain injuries while playing, running or due to stepping on house hold implements. It is important to treat them before they become more severe dog health problems. As the dogs get injured with their paws most often, it is not easy to see the injury and if you try to look at it the dog tries to shy away. As an injury in a dog will get infected very quickly, you need to take care of them early.
If your dog limps for more than a couple of days or it has a limp that comes and goes, take care of it as it may lead to dog health problems that need more attention. If your dog’s injury is detected earlier, you could take it to the veterinarian and treat it before the injury is aggravated. Dog health problems that involve injuries are easy to look after but they also become serious if not treated on time. The difficulty with some big breeds of dogs is that they get very scared when the injury is going to be treated. However, you must treat the injuries of a dog no matter what type of resistance it offers against treatment.

Sometimes dogs get their tails injured getting caught in closing doors and such other accidents. Though these are not such serous dog health problems, you need to take care of them immediately before things go out of hand. If you are not familiar with dog injuries to take charge of the situation, you need to take your inured canine friend to the vet.
When you encounter any dog health problems involving injuries the most important thing is to keep calm. If you get excited your pet too will go upset and you will face more dog health problems due to the injury. Nothing is more difficult to manage than an excited dog owner and a gravely injured dog. You must remember that keeping calm is the key to solve any dog health problems no matter whether it is injury or a more serious condition.
